Community Leadership Award Winner

2024 - Phoebe Worth Medical Center

Phoebe Worth has touched all aspects of its community with efforts to improve the health and wellbeing of its patients and community members. From addressing food insecurities to bolstering the state’s adult health and family planning programs to ensuring access to prescription drugs and behavioral health resources, Phoebe Worth has gone above and beyond in identifying health challenges and finding solutions.

Phoebe Worth partnered with the Village Community Garden to establish monthly Health and Wellness workshops, which provide food and education for the whole community while addressing food insecurity.

To help educate and ensure the best outcomes for patients who are diagnosed with hypertension and diabetes, Phoebe Worth donates and helps fund the state’s adult health program. Through this program, the health department works with the patients’ providers to help patients receive lab work and medication to help manage their condition. Additionally, the hospital manages the prescription drug assistance program for eligible patients to ensure access to important medications, even for those who may struggle financially.

To address the local and national opioid crisis and help save lives, last year, Phoebe Worth purchased Naloxone, the opioid overdose reversal medication, and donated 50 doses each to the Worth County Sherriff’s office and the Sylvester Police Department.

Phoebe Worth is also helping the community make great strides in the area of behavioral health. The hospital contracts with Aspire Behavioral Health and provides office space for patients who need behavioral health services.

Through all of these efforts and more, Phoebe Worth is making an important impact on the community’s health and vitality.
