On May 14, Rev. Ann Sidney Charlescraft, DMin, BCC, discussed self care for all health care professionals and staff, from housekeepers to physicians serving on the front lines. Rev. Charlescraft shared practical steps for caring for self during a public health pandemic as well as ways to strengthen resilience and encouragement among the health care team. COVID -19: HR Considerations and CARES Act Relief
On April 16, speakers from King & Spalding discussed the personnel and financial challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. They reviewed best practices for HR policies and gave an overview of the requirements and benefits established by the ADA, FFCRA, and CARES Act. GHA members can access the recording and materials.
Expert Delivers Presentation on Governance in the Time of Coronavirus
On April 8, GHA hosted on a webinar, "Governance in the Time of Coronavirus," featuring renowned health care speaker and governance expert Jamie Orlikoff.
The program addressed what governing boards should do to help their executives, organizations, and themselves prepare for the immediate future of the pandemic. Orlikoff outlined the unique issues and actions that boards should think about to help ensure that they and their organizations stay ahead of the pandemic leadership curve to prepare for unprecedented situations and challenges that are just around the corner.

Accessing the $2 trillion Recovery Fund for COVID -19
On March 30 and 31, GHA hosted webinars with a team from Witt O’Brien’s on what hospital leaders should do to begin to plan for potential reimbursements from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) related to COVID-19. The webinars featured key deadlines, documentation and what costs may be reimbursable. GHA members can access the recording and materials. (Login required)
FEMA-4501-DR-GA (COVID-19) Applicant Briefing
The Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) held a call on April 6 for GHA members about eligible hospitals to the FEMA’s (Federal Emergency Management Agency) Request for Public Assistance program. This would help certain hospitals apply for federal relief dollars spend on the COVID response effort. GHA members can access the

On-Demand: Caring for the Caregiver
Hospital Quality Institute, in partnership with BETA Healthcare Group, presented Care for the Caregiver, an online course providing first aid for the head and heart — not only for clinical workers, but anyone working in health care. This program is psychological first aid for those on the frontlines of the worldwide war with COVID-19 and is funded by the California Hospital Association, Hospital Council – Northern & Central California, Hospital Association of Southern California, and Hospital Association of San Diego & Imperial Counties.
